Dr. Jana Baatenburg is a dedicated and compassionate physician who strongly believes in patient-centered care. She obtained her MD from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine after completing her undergraduate studies in Biology at Calvin University and a Master’s in Basic Medical Science at Wayne State University. Dr. Baatenburg’s motivation to pursue a career in medicine stems from her family background, particularly her grandfather’s experiences as a family medicine physician.

Throughout her career, Dr. Baatenburg’s approach to patient care has evolved. She emphasizes the importance of forming trusting relationships with her patients. She believes in addressing the whole person throughout their life, focusing on lifestyle factors and preventive care to promote health and well-being.

Dr. Baatenburg’s practice is characterized by her commitment to personalized medicine. She actively involves her patients in shared decision-making regarding their treatment plans. She values open communication and takes the time to ensure that her patients fully understand their medical conditions and treatment options.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Baatenburg is passionate about physical fitness and nutrition, which influences her approach to patient care. Her personal experiences, including overcoming Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports (REDs), have shaped her perspective as a physician, emphasizing the importance of understanding each patient’s unique motivations for behavior change.
