Dr. Risa Kagan, MD, FACOG, CCD, MSCP is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and a leading expert in menopausal care and research. As a menopause consultant for the Sutter East Bay Medical Foundation and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), she specializes in gynecology with a focus on menopause-related health issues, bone and female sexual health, and female cancer survivorship. Dr. Kagan has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and serves on the editorial board of Menopause and the Journal of The Menopause Society previously called the  North American Menopause Society (NAMS). She is also an ad hoc reviewer for numerous other peer-reviewed journals, contributing significantly to the field of women's health.

Post Partum Mood Disorders - Sheryl Kingsberg, PhD

Dr. Sheryl Kingsberg is the chief of the division of behavioral medicine at MacDonald Women’s Hospital/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and Professor in Reproductive Biology, Urology and Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University. Her areas of clinical specialization include female sexual disorders, menopause, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, and psychological aspects of infertility.

Dr. Kingsberg’s primary research interests are in treatments for female sexual disorders, genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) and reproductive mental health. She is an Associate Editor for Sexual Medicine Reviews and sits on the editorial boards of the journals Menopause and Climacteric.  She has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous book chapters and has co-edited a multidisciplinary textbook on treating female sexual disorders.

Dr. Kingsberg is a past president of The Menopause Society and The International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She currently serves as the Advocacy Committee Chair for both of these organizations.

Disentangling Mood Symptoms and Sleep Problems During Midlife Years - Claudio Soares, MD, PhD, FRCPC, MBA

Dr. Soares is a Professor and former Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Queen’s University School of Medicine in Kingston, Ontario – Canada. He currently serves as Director for the Centre for Psychedelic Heath and Research at Providence Care Hospital & Queen’s University, Executive Lead for the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND) and Regional Lead for Mental Health and Addictions, Ontario Health East.

Dr. Soares trained as a psychiatrist, completed his Ph.D. on estrogen effects for the management of depression in midlife women and pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Perinatal and Reproductive Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

His research has focused on the design and implementation of clinical trials in depression, with a primary focus on novel hormonal and non-hormonal options for midlife women experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, vasomotor symptoms, and sleep problems.  He is currently the president of the  Menopause Society.

His work has also explored  digital health technologies for treatment monitoring and relapse prevention in depression and sleep disturbances, and the role of psychedelics for the management of psychiatric disorders and existential distress in late-stage cancer.

He is a sought-after educator with more than 240 presentations at national and international meetings and more than 200 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of mood disorders and women’s mental health, including JAMA, Nature, American Journal of Psychiatry, among others. His body of work has more than 13,000 citations to date.

Dr. Annie Fenn is a physician, chef, and author of The Brain Health Kitchen: Preventing Alzheimer’s Through Food (Artisan 2023), a science-based cookbook and care manual for the brain. She founded the Brain Health Kitchen, the only cooking school of its kind focused exclusively on helping people prevent cognitive decline through food and lifestyle. After twenty years as a board-certified ob-gyn, she traded in her stethoscope for an apron to pursue her passion for the culinary arts. But it was her mother's diagnosis with dementia that helped Fenn find her path and her new calling, one that enabled her to not only help her mother but also create significant and meaningful impact for others.

Dr. Fenn hosts Brain Health Retreats in Italy, Mexico and Costa Rica. She writes Brain Health Kitchen, a twice-weekly newsletter on Substack to a large community of food-loving brain health enthusiasts where she provides cooking classes, in-depth lifestyle guides, and recipes. Dr. Fenn is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Cincinnati and Harvard University where she lectures young adults and medical students about brain health. Fenn lives in Jackson, Wyoming where she enjoys skiing, cycling, foraging for mushrooms and berries, and exploring the Teton mountains with her husband and dogs.

Dr. Chrisandra L. Shufelt, MD, MS, FACP, NCMP, is a women’s health internist and certified menopause practitioner with fellowship training in vascular biology and women’s health. She is chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine and the Women’s Health Research Center associate director at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Shufelt has specific research interests in hypothalamic amenorrhea in young women and its impact on immune and vascular health. She has published more than 200 articles in the area of women’s health and co-authored several scientific position statements on menopause and hormone therapy.

Sydney Larkin Proffer MD, MS is a current Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cosmetics Fellow at Northwestern Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in neuroscience and mathematics, and her Master's degree in Health Care Delivery from Arizona State University. She completed her medical degree at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, internal medicine internship at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and dermatology residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is a peer reviewer for several Dermatologic Surgery journals and has numerous peer-reviewed publications which span her research expertise in dermato-oncology, cosmetics, exosomes, hair loss, and skin cancer reconstruction. She is an active member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, American Academy of Dermatology, and others. She serves in numerous leadership positions including the Board of Directors of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and Advocacy, and is previous board member to the Mayo Clinic O'leary Society, Mayo Clinic Alumni Association, and American Medical Women’s Association. She serves as an ASDSA advocacy ambassador, Fellow Lead to the ASDS International Traveling Mentorship & Fellowship Recognition committee, and frequently volunteers her time through the Women’s Derm Society. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and playing tennis.

Susan D. Reed MD, MPH, MS, MSCP, FACOG is Professor Emeritus and past Vice Chair for Research in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, with an adjunct appointment in Epidemiology at the University of Washington. She is a past president of The Menopause Society. Her undergraduate and medical degrees are from Stanford, and her master’s degrees are from Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Washington. She did her obstetrics and gynecology residency training at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Reed’s research focuses on women’s health issues related to reproductive hormones and she is internationally known for her expertise in menopause. She is the past Research Director for the National Institutes of Health funded Women’s Reproductive Health Research program at the University of Washington and a principal investigator for the NIH funded grant, MsFLASH, performing clinical trials on the treatment of menopausal symptoms. She has over 180 peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Reed was the Division Chief at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle from 2008-2018 and has 40 years of clinical experience.

Susan Kellogg-Spadt, PhD, CRNP, IF, CSC, FCST, is the Director of Female Sexual Medicine at The Center for Pelvic Medicine, Bryn Mawr, PA. She performs direct patient care, and consultative services as a vulvovaginal and pelvic pain specialist, researcher, educator, sexual dysfunction clinician, and therapist. She is a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health and serves on the Executive Board of the National Vulvodynia Association.⁠ 

Dr. Kellogg is a professor of OB/GYN at Drexel University College of Medicine, a professor of Human Sexuality at Widener University, and clinical associate faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She is the Chair of the Fellowship Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.⁠ ⁠ 

Dr. Kellogg is a certified sexuality counselor and therapist. She has authored and co-authored several books, chapters, and peer-reviewed articles in the field of sexual medicine, and has been featured in The New York Times and on the Today Show, 20/20, CNN, and the Discovery Channel.

Christine Edmonds, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiology, Division of Breast Imaging at the University of Pennsylvania/Penn Medicine Hospital.  She completed a combined diagnostic and research radiology residency at the University of Pennsylvania and a Breast Imaging Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her areas of interest and research include health equity and cancer screening disparities, optimization of breast MRI (including abbreviated MRI) for screening and diagnosis, and molecular oncologic imaging.  She leads a breast cancer education and screening outreach program in West Philadelphia. She is investigating novel applications of PET for improved staging and treatment planning in patients with estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer.
